Delivering an impromptu speech is not a simple task either. The person needs a lot of confidence and the presence of mind to be able to say the right thing at the right time.

  1. Manuscript speech:

This is when the person giving the speech is going to have a manuscript while he is making a speech or a presentation. These are speeches that are planned in advance and all the pointers which have to be mentioned or spoken about are written down in a manuscript. This script is going to make sure that the speaker does not really go to wrong with the speech and also makes sure that point is come across well.

The only drawback with this kind of speech is that the speaker cannot really develop or maintain an eye contact with the audience and therefore he might lose them easily. It also restricts conversation and interaction because the pointers are too rigid.

This is a little bit different from a manuscript speech because of the element of conversation and interaction in it. This gives it an edge over the manuscript speech and also makes sure that the audience does not lose attention.

Here there is no use of manuscript. There is only a speech which is memorized by the speaker and he will have to deliver it to the audience. The pro of a memorized speech is that the speaker will be able to maintain an eye contact with the people, and also understand their reactions. This also means that the speaker will have to make the speech engaging so that the audience is not bored.

However, a memorized speech is only successful when there is an interaction involved and also makes sure that the audience is participating. Else, the speaker looks like a dummy speaking out of an encyclopedia.
