The number of IITs are increasing year by year and IIT Tirupati is another new addition to the list. Every year, Government announces new IITs on their budget so that more numbers of engineers can be produced in upcoming years. IIT Tirupati started functioning from last year (August 5, 2015) in a temporary campus at Theja Educational Institutions. The process of set up permanent campus and new building has been initiated near Merlapaka which is located between Renigunta and Srikalahasti. At present, the institute offers 4 streams of B.Tech courses and has 30 seats for each stream. To get admission, one has to clear JEE(Main) and then JEE (Advanced). Yes, it is a two step process. Admissions are based on JEE (Advanced) rank. IIT Tirupati cutoff mark is less as compared to other top level IITs like IIT Khragpur, IIT Madras etc. As the IIT is new, the process of hiring professors and faculty members is still going on. The construction work of permanent campus of IIT Tirupati is going very fast on 500 acres of land. It is expected to be ready by 2019. The site is located just 22 kilometers from Tirupati and 14 kilometers from the airport. The state
